Does my smoke alarm require any maintenance?

A mains powered or long life battery alarm will usually last 7 to 10 years before they or the battery need replacing. Your landlord will replace when required. If your alarm uses standard batteries you will need to replace at least once a year. Dust in a smoke alarm can affect how it works. We recommend smoke alarms are vacuumed regularly using the soft brush attachment.
